Isaac: A Figure Foreshadowing Christ

Seeing Isaac with New Testament eyes,he is both an historic figure and a type of Christ. Abraham, his natural father, "received him in a figure" (Heb 11:19). First, we understand, as Isaac was a promised son so was Christ. The initial promise of Christ is observed as the "seed" of the woman in Gen 3:15. This is a spiritual promise and fulfillment because the woman had no seed.
