Hope for the Miserable

Isaiah 54 often suffers from "middle child syndrome," being overshadowed by the glorious description of God's Servant in ch. 53 and the glorious invitation to enjoy God's love in ch. 55. Yet Isaiah 54 has been powerfully used by God in church history. As Joe points out, believers are challenged in three ways: (1) Sing when you recall God’s covenant with Abraham; (2) Don’t fear when you recall God’s covenant through Moses; and (3) hope when you recall God’s covenant with Noah. Miserable believers are comforted with future hope when they consider God's covenant-keeping love.
