Keep The Sabbath Day Holy.
Series Moses
There is quite a deal of controversy concerning the Fourth Commandment. Some Evangelical Churches have reverted back to observing the seventh day of the week as the Sabbath. Some Antinomians say that we are not obliged to keep it. Many Evangelicals nowadays simply ignore it, a sign of the increasing lawlessness in Evangelical circles. The fact is that the Bible records the early church as keeping the first day of the week as a Sabbath. Whiled the Apostles did not give express instructions regarding which day should be observed as a Sabbath, we do have the example of Paul giving instructions to collect for the needy when they met to break bread on the first day of the week. Paul addressed a gather on the first day of the week. John, in Revelation, speaks of being in the Spirit on the Lord's Day. The Seventh Day Adventists state that it is an Anti-Christ institution to observe the first day of the week. They say that the Roman Emperor, Constantine was responsible for introducing this practice. Constantine did command that the First Day should be observed as The Sabbath, but he simply made it law that which had already been the practice of the churches for a long period of time previously.
