Paul's Word of Exhortation for the People in Antioch Psidia
Series Exposition of Acts
52
In this passage we'll read about John Mark's dearture from the missionary journey, which will later surface as a point of contention between Paul and Barnabas. At Antioch in Pisidia Paul begins his first recorded sermon where he speaks to those in the synagogue of God's sovereignty and care for His people despite their continual rebellion against Him. In many ways Paul is setting the record straight about Jewish history to a proud people, and demonstrating their need for a Savior. It's easy for us to idealize history and historical figures, even in Church history, and to forget the clear lessons God would have us to learn. May our focus in all of life be on worshiping the living God in Whom we live and move and have our being.
