Doctrine of Christ 6: Resurrection & Assencion

II- The Ascension of Christ
The Biblical account tells us that after His resurrection, Jesus spent 40 days on earth until His final ascension. (Acts 1:3, 9,10)

A- What did Christ do when He ascended to heaven?
1- He received Glory and Honor as a triumphant Messiah. 1 Tim 3:16 comp Phil 2:5-11
2- He sat at the right hand of the Majesty on High. Ps 110:1
3- He now intercedes for us. Heb 7:25

B- What is the imporance of the Ascension of Christ?
1- It reminds us we will go through the same experience
2- It reminds us of our true home. Jn 14:2-3
3- It reminds us that today we partially reign with Him, but one day we will fully reign with Christ. Eph 2:6, Rev 3:21

Doctrine of Christ 7: The Offices of Christ

I – Christ as a Prophet
Christ’s prophetic ministry today.

1. He instructs us by His Spirit in the Word. 1 Cor 2:12-13
2. The Spirit insructs us in the context of hearing the Word. Rom 10:17
3. This instruction also comes in the context of preaching. Rom 10:13-14, Eph 2:17-19 & 4:21

II – Christ as Priest
1- He offered the perfect sacrifice for sin. Heb 9:26
2- He continually intercedes for us. Heb 7:25

III – Christ as King

1. Christ is presented as one who was born to be King over His people.
2. The Lord made known to Pilate that He was a King, even when His Kingdom was very different from earthly ones.
3. Jesus’ coronation as King, took place after the resurrection
4. He was always treated as a King, for the Old Testament presented Him this way

IV – Christ’s Kingdom

1. Here and now
2. The future stage
