Spiritual Adultery

Aim: To wholeheartedly cleave to Jesus—in faith and repentance.

Doctrine: Immorality and idolatry are linked in the scriptures. This is because these are heart-matters that call for serious faith in Jesus.

Exegesis: The perverse desires of unfaithful hearts: they want God and sin (v. 1); pride and blessing (vv. 2-5); heresy and truth (vv. 6-10)

Further application: How to put spiritual adultery to death: divided hearts must become one in Christ, and beloved idols must be deserted for Christ.
