He had the right to remain silent

15

This is the account of Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane just before His betrayal and arrest. We saw His agonizing and distress and sorrow not about His dying but having to become sin and bear the wrath of God for it. He is praying to the Father to let this cup pass by Him. We looked at the cup representing God’s fury and wrath against sin. We saw Jesus resolve, in His prayer, to do the Father’s will and not His own desire. We saw how our prayer life can follow the same pattern; always desire the Father’s will to be done and always be watchful and prayerful to avoid yielding to temptation. Then we looked at 7 reasons why the Father answered with a silent no to Jesus’ request to have the cup pass by Him.
