Verse 47 is the key to understanding this portion of Scripture. The scribes and Pharisees devoured widows' houses and their exploitation of this poor widow was another example. A religious system that preys upon spiritually sensitive people whether in the time of Jesus, or John Tetzel or Kenneth Copeland are all an abomination to God. Jesus is pointing this out in this passage.
