1. Inevitably man will grow tired of sound doctrine.

v3a "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;…"

2. They will want their ears scratched.

vs3b "but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables."

3. Courageously, Timothy must watch and endure.

v5a "But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions.."

4. He must continue to make full proof of his ministry.

v5b "do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."
