Dateline: Jerusalem, c. AD 30

5

What happened on that hill outside of the city of Jerusalem at Passover around AD 30? The question, and the answer to that question, have been, and continue to be, among the great and the most important questions and answers in the course of human history. Whether or not we want to, all of us answer that question. Some in the crowd on that day thought that they understood what was going on: a troublesome upstart was getting what he deserved. He had been condemned by both the religious and the civil authorities, and justice had to be served. But did they really comprehend what was happening? What they said and did demonstrated that they really had not comprehended anything beyond what they misconstrued with their eyes and incorrectly heard with their ears. Yet, inside the city, the true significance of the event on the hill was dramatically shown.
