Separated to the LORD

Numbers 6:1-21 "Separated to the LORD"

You shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.—Exo. 19:6

I. The Picture of Holiness (1-8)

o Holiness is separation FROM sin, TO The LORD
… the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to the Lord, he shall separate himself from

o The Separation FROM:
• wine
• razor
• dead bodies

II. The Problem of Holiness (9-21)

o SIN lies close at hand (9-11; Rom. 7:21)

o Our most holy deeds are POLLUTED BY SIN (12-20; Isa. 64:6)

III. The Perfection of Holiness

o JESUS CHRIST, was the true Nazarite for you (Jn. 17:19)
He shall be called a Nazar-ene.—Mt. 2:23

• He gave up joy for you

• He was submissive and obedient for you

• He never touched sin, for you

• He became sin for you, so that you can eat and be satisfied

Respond in faith to your Nararite and pursue holiness
