I. Unfaithful Wife
When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, "Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking the Lord."—Hos. 1:2

Breaks faith with her husband; goes astray; defiled herself; unclean; iniquity

The water of bitterness that brings the curse …make her drink

Your lewdness and your whoring have brought this upon you, because you played the whore with the nations and defiled yourself with their idols. … therefore I will give her cup into your hand. Thus says the Lord God: "You shall drink your sister's cup that is deep and large; you shall be laughed at and held in derision, for it contains much, you will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow. A cup of horror and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria; you shall drink it and drain it out.—Ezek. 23:29b-34

Wake yourself, wake yourself, stand up, O Jerusalem, you who have drunk from the hand of the LORD the cup of his wrath.-- Isa. 51:17

II. Faithful Husband
Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her … And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the Lord … And I will have mercy on 'No Mercy', and I will say to 'Not My People', 'You are my people'; and he shall say, 'You are my God.'—Hosea 2:14,19-20,23

O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.—Mt. 26:39

you shall worship no other god, for the
