Behold Your King

The title of today’s message is “Behold Your King”, based on John 19:16-30. It is named after Pilate’s words to the crowd of Jews at handing Jesus over for crucifixion.

Pilate’s statement is a rubric over the rest of the passage, in the same way as the inscription over the cross is a visible declaration to the people that saw Jesus on the cross. We behold Jesus as He walks to Golgotha and gives Himself as a sacrifice.

Today’s message will cover the first five points of a two-part message with nine to ten points. The focus of each point is to “behold your King”, so each point will relate to our look at the King, our attempt to see Him as John presents Him. There’s something phenomenal about the glory of our Savior, much like a drawing or painting that is made to look like something different, depending on the viewer’s perspective. We see utter weakness and also indescribable power; suffering and Sovereignty. That’s the reality of who our Savior is. He suffered the greatest defeat, yet it is in reality the greatest victory. The lowest moment in all eternity, yet is also the most beautiful and glorious moment
