Creation - Westminster Confession 4.1

327

The living God created the heavens and the earth. There is nothing behind him or before him or beside him from all eternity. Everything that pagans worship and fear in the world, God made. Whereas pagan religions aim at harmony with nature through magic, the Bible's goal is peace with God. The six days of Creation all begin with, "Let there be," and conclude with, "And it was so." God named each thing he created, evaluated it as good. The work was finished, "evening and morning," in one day. In the first three days, God gave form to the world, separating light from darkness, the heavens from the earth, and dry land from the seas. In the second three days, God filled the spaces he had made: sun, moon, and stars in the heavens, fish in the sea, birds in the air, and animals on land. The climax of creation came with man, male and female, made in the image of God. Then God called it all very good and rested.
