The Glory of His Name

In Col. 3:17, Paul exhorts believers to do everything in the name—power, glory, and authority—of the Lord Jesus. He, then, lists duties for saints that I have put into three categories: home, work, and community. The problem with duties is that they tend to reveal our wrong motives—our success, our happiness, our desires. No believer can adequately perform his duties in himself. Jesus is in the transformation business for His glory, not for our sake, per se. We find our joy is pursuing His glory.
