The Shedding of Christ's Holy Tears

Why did the Lord Jesus not just heal Lazarus from a distance, as He had done with others? And why did He choose to stay two more days in Bethabara in Transjordan? Why did He allow Mary and Martha to experience grief and confusion for those four days? These and many questions, which were doubtless in Mary's head, when Christ finally arrived, remained unanswered; and yet one piece of information was given very clearly to her and to the others standing by, and that was how much love the Saviour has for those who love Him:
