A Sigh to Heaven

An evening prayer, at once candid and contented. PLEA FOR GOD'S CARE (v. 1): He urgently calls upon God for help. Do you? CALL FOR OUR TRUST (vv. 2-5): He thinks out loud about unbelievers, frustrated they worship idols instead of the true and living God. Since only true worshipers are saved, he counsels them (us) to true worship, inwardly and outwardly. PLEA FOR GOD'S FAVOR (vv. 6-7): They want temporal blessings. He wants spiritual above all (i.e., communion with God Himself), knowing they bring the highest joy. CONFESSION OF MY TRUST (v. 8): His deliberate resolve to trust in God makes for a good night's sleep.
