Our Risen and Reigning Lord

That which so encouraged Paul to persevere in the midst of persecution, trial, and discouragement, he now passes on to Timothy, his son in the faith: 'Remember Jesus Christ: risen from the dead, of the seed of David. This is my gospel.' It is precisely the fact that Jesus Christ, the God-Man, who died and made atonement for the sins of His people, is now risen and reigning until all His enemies are put under His feet that gives the believer assurance, encouragement, joy, and hope to persevere.
