Coming back to God

After the attacks of 9/11 roughly 150 lawmakers gathered on the capital steps to address the nation. When they were done some began to sing out "God bless America" the rest joined in. the following Sunday churches across the nation were filled. But it didn't last. Why did it not? The desire for patriotism was there but the true resolve to turn back to God wasn't. Times of crisis try us. Show us what we want and too often we deceive ourselves into thinking we can do it on our own. God doesn't work that way. He wants whole hearted genuine repentance, for us to truly come back to Him.
