The major judge in this text is Jephthah. It ends on a most sad note, Jephthah by a rash & mindless vow had cut off the life of his only child. This lesson ends with a very brief but serious consideration for parents. Have the things that we have committed our children to doing instilled the things of Christ in their minds or have they learned that service to Christ in His church is secondary to everything else. As parents, if we do not see by faith a future with our children (them that have professed faith in Christ) serving Christ within the context of one of the Lord's churches we have missed the mark as a Christian parent.
