Zealous Ignorance

Islam is arguably the most zealous world religion of our day. We are inundated with horrific stories of Muslim violence in the name of Allah, carried out by men and women seeking entrance to heaven. This is a misguided and extreme example of a works based salvation system. In Romans 10:3-4 we find that all works based religion springs forth from ignorance. It is ignorance of the holiness of God, the sinfulness of man, and the singular righteousness of Christ. If we can't lay down our religious righteousness we have no part in Christ. The great sin of man's religion is pride in self and self effort. The great boast of biblical Christianity is Christ and Christ's finished work. Hear me here… we must “submit to the righteousness of God” in Jesus Christ.
