God's Providence Makes Arrangements

151

The apostle Paul faced false accusations by the Jews and physical harm by the mob when he arrived in Jerusalem. God intervened giving Paul supernatural revelation about His plan to send him to Rome. God worked providentially through the Romans by arranging circumstances for them to provide Paul with a safe and secure delivery out of Jerusalem. Through relatives of Paul that had not been previously mentioned and the Roman commander in Jerusalem God arranged for Paul's avoidance from an ambush that was intended to result in his murder.

In commandeering Paul's journey to Caesarea, the center of Roman authority in Palestine at the time, the Roman authorities had a divine appointment to hear the Gospel. In fact as history records, for a two year period they heard the Gospel as Paul continued to be clear and bold with the Truth. The hostility the Gospel can create is nonetheless is under God's restraint and control as He uses it for His purposes. Here Paul had opportunity to present the Gospel with many people he would, humanly speaking, have never been able to secure an audience.
