II. The Local Church as the New Covenant Theanthropic Priesthood

One of the great superiorities of the New Covenant over the Mosiac Covenant is the superiority and “surety” of the New Covenant priesthood and the priesthood of all believers in the New Covenant. God told Moses to tell the children of Israel, “And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation” (Exodus 19:6). This promise was intended to show Israel a future relationship and position that did not exist for them in the Old (Mosaic) Covenant. This promise was intended to look forward to what would come into existence after Messiah's coming and the establishment of His Kingdom on earth. Therefore, the epistle to the Hebrews is detailing the New Covenant as the means by which that new kingdom/sovereignty of theanthropic priests is elect “in Christ.”.
