Romans Chapter 7 - 8:14, Lesson 7

313 ( 120 | 193 )

The Book of Romans is a letter that is meant to be read from the beginning to the end. When people are married, they are married until one or both of them die. In this passage, Paul states that just as death in marriage releases a person from their former spouse, so does being dead to sin. We have been released from the law and are now under grace. We are alive in Christ. The law shows us the sinfulness of our natural beings. We all need a savior. The law is spiritual but we are unspiritual without Christ. In our own power, we cannot overcome sin. After we are born again, we still have to die daily to sin and the flesh. But with the Holy Spirit living in us, we have the power to say no to sin. In Heaven, we will have glorified bodies and will be perfect. We are not to live in our own strength. We are counted righteous on the basis of what Jesus has done. Christ gives us the power to do what He is asking us to do.
