Romans 4, Lesson 4

Abraham received justification and righteousness from God. This he received through faith. Satan told Adam and Eve that if they sinned, or disobeyed God’s law, that they could receive life. Today, Satan lies to us telling us that we must keep all the rules in order to receive life from God. We will never ever get anywhere with God by trying to keep all the rules. Because God’s standard of holiness is so great and perfect, we soon realize that all of us sin and fall short of God’s law. Even before Abraham became circumcised, he received righteousness through faith. Abraham agreed with God and obeyed His commands even when it was difficult to do so. We have been made in God’s image and therefore we should live like it. Faith is not pretending. Abraham’s hope was is in God and His promises. God wants to make it deliberately clear that He is the one who brings the victory. Do we really believe what God says?
