OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST
PART 1: Qualifications for the Priesthood

SUMMARY: Christ could not qualify as our great High Priest under the law unless He meet several requirements: the high priest must be taken from among men; he must minister to God on behalf of men; and he must be called and appointed by God.

I. THE HIGH PRIEST IS TO BE “TAKEN FROM AMONG MEN.”
A. The Ideal: Compassion for Sinners.
B. The Failure: Human Sin in the Priestly Line.
C. The Remedy: a Human but Sinless High Priest.

II. THE HIGH PRIEST IS TO MINISTER “FOR MEN IN THINGS PERTAINING TO GOD.”
A. The Neeed for Sacrifices Before Moses.
B. The Sacrificial System Under the Law of Moses.

III. THE HIGH PRIEST IS TO BE CALLED AND APPOINTED BY GOD.
A. The Calling of Aaron.
B. God God-Ordained Priesthood.
