This sermon answers the question WHY TWO Miraculous Feedings (the 5,000 and the 4,000). It also explains Jesus'
“Compassion for the Multitudes.” And exhorts that we must imitate this quality as followers of Christ! Col 3:12-13 commands us “as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.” So here in Mt 15:32-38 & Mk 8:1-9 let's put on a heart of compassion like our Lord and Savior by responding in kind to three conditions in which Jesus' Compassion is manifest:

  1. Jesus' compassion is displayed in the midst of human weakness, need, and inability.
  2. Jesus' compassion is demonstrated through the meager resources and abilities of His disciples.
  3. Jesus' compassion is determined to result in men being benefited and God being glorified.
