The Compassion of Preaching

Moses told the people, “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear" (Deut. 18:15). We know that Jesus was this Prophet. He was God in human flesh, and as a man He hungered, He needed help ministering to the crowds, He grew tired, He wept, He was angered, and He showed compassion. One way He showed compassion was by teaching the people, and He continues this ministry even today through the Apostles and Prophets (the written Word of God), evangelists (missionaries and church planters), and pastor-teachers, those who labor and work hard to teach the Word of God to the church, those who serve the Chief Shepherd by shepherding His sheep until He returns.
