Perseverance By Grace Through Suffering

Main Idea: We must persevere in Gospel suffering by means of God’s grace.

• Be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus  (1)

• Commit what you have heard to faithful men (2)

• Share in suffering and reward (3)

    Examples:

     Soldier:  Don’t be entangled by the affairs of life (4)
    
     Athlete:  Compete by the rules (5)
    
     Farmer:  Receive the firstfruits of your hard labor (6)

• Think over what I say! (7)

     The Lord will give you understanding in everything

Applications

Am I trusting in God's grace today for acceptance with God?

Am I doing my part to train the next generation of believers—
in my family, and in my church?

Am I ready for suffering?

Am I preoccupied with "stuff"?

Am I living by the law of Christ—loving my brother?

Am I enjoying the fruit of my labors in Christ?
