The Roman Benediction
Series Romans
48
Most of Paul's letters end with a benediction, and the book of Romans is no exception. A benediction is a blessing in which the man of God calls upon heaven to dispense tangible spiritual blessings upon the people of God. And considering the frequency with which benedictions appear in our Bible, we are right to conclude that the words of blessing are no mere form or empty ritual, but that God truly intends to bless His believing people in accordance with the words spoken as they have faith to receive it. In this sermon we examine the Roman benediction, seeing from it three things: 1. The gospel enables saints to persevere, 2. The gospel is the revelation of a mystery, and 3. The gospel is for the glory of God alone.
