A note about the writer and the audience: they worshipped at the temple Herod had built, and though the layout of things was similar, it was not the portable structure of the desert tabernacle.
a) The atrium or outer court: the altar and the bronze laver
b) The holy place: Inside the veil, the lamp stand, the table with show bread and the Altar of Incense.
c) The Most Holy Place. The mercy seat covered by two Cherubim
Textual note verse 5b): “but of these things we cannot now speak in detail”
II – The Limitations of the Old Covenant Sacrifices 6-10
Theological Note: the writer of Hebrews does not belittle or trash the Old Testament
a)Vs 6) The sacrifices were incomplete
b)Vs 7) They were limited
c)Vs 8) The place of sacrifice was inaccessible
d)Vs 9) The sacrifices were inefficient: they were just a “type” parab. (a figure, an illustration)
Robertson: “this was the real failure of animal sacrifices, to make the worshipper perfect”

That brings us to the third point of Hebrews' 9 argument which is:
