Our Prince vs. the World's Tyrants: Thoughts on Qaddafi's Cruelty

93

Seeing the malignant cruelty of Qaddafi as he orders his own people to be mown down by the thousands, one cannot help but be drawn to consider the contrasting glory and honor of our Prince, the Lord Jesus Christ!

Earthly rulers seem always to be on the lookout for themselves. Our congressmen leave government service greatly enriched. Tyrants kill their own people simply to maintain their lucrative positions.

Nobody in leadership today, it seems, makes sacrifices for the good of the people.

But our Lord Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice - He died to save His people! Oh the wonder of that contrast: that Jesus, the Lord of Glory, should so humble Himself for the benefit of His people!

Our Lord's sacrifice was undertaken before He ascended unto His throne of authority and power. "Afterward," He told the Jewish leaders who would kill Him, "you will see me seated in power and glory." After the cruel death at Calvary that He would suffer to rescue His people whom He loved!

Our Lord Jesus has won the hearts of His people by His suffering in our place. Nobody ever heard of a Prince like our Jesus!

Amongst our Savior's people, there will be no protesting, no dissatisfacton, no revolting in Glory. We will be perfectly satisfied with our great King.

He is our glorious, sacrificing Prince and Savior. Oh that the world would see Him, and come to Him, and trust in Him, and submit to Him!
