The Offense of Sensuality

Once again I will preach a sermon in the series The Worship That Pleases God, and we will conclude the section on The Hindrances to Worship: The Sin of Man. We are considering some of the hindrances to worship that exist due to our natural sinfulness. Because of our remaining depravity we are naturally inclined to offer worship to God that is according to our desire and our understanding. In today's “me” culture that translates into a “worship experience” that is carnal and sensual, because that is what pleases the flesh. Such worship is not acceptable to God because it is primarily centered upon the worshipper. In this sermon I will seek to emphasize the spiritual nature of worship, as opposed to the modern worship that is now so sensual in nature. I hope we will learn and apply the necessary spiritual lessons as a worshipping church. To that end may the Lord be pleased to bless the ministry of His word to our hearts.
