FDS Lecture (9)
Series Russian: Parenting
Since this series is given as a seminary class it by nature emphasizes the Scriptural doctrines and as a result goes much deeper into the exposition of Scripture pertaining to the disciplining and raising of children. It is an excellent tool for pastors to use in regaining confidence in the clear Biblical teachings on raising children. In addition it is a very useful tool for deprogramming laymen and women who have come under the spell of Christian teachers who place modern psychology over the holy, eternal inerrant Word of God.
The world lead the way in rejecting the use of the rod (spanking) in the training of our children and the church is blindly following the same self-destructive path. This has not been a theology resulting in a lifestyle but rather a lifestyle seeking a theology. Many who desire a more sophisticated approach and an avoidance of conflict at all cost have chosen not to question the biblical research behind the many books on the market today which either downplay the rod or teach against it at all costs. Claims that the Bible only contains a few obscure verses concerning the rod or that the word rod is a symbol with many applications goes unquestioned by men who should know better but choose ignorance over sound Biblical scholarship. In this lecture Rev. Mahon establishes the Biblical doctrine of the Rod in discipline and lays to rest many of the liberal myths concerning the Rod and the Bible.
