Faith and Repentance - the essential ingredients of conversion

'Conversion' is an old fashioned gospel term that is as important and necessary as it ever has been. This, and other old fashioned terms express essential elements of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. and the preaching of the Apostles.

Conversion denotes a radical change. The word specifically indicates a turning. In many places it is translated 'turn' instead of 'convert'. It denotes:
[1] a turning away from something,
[2] a turn towards something.

As a consequence of that turning taking place there is a change that comes over an individual who is converted.

This turning is so remarkable that it is noticeable. True conversion is not some unnoticed, nondescript, unremarkable, undistinguished happening in a person's life that can take place and the person is unaware of it.

Conversion as defined by the Word of God is substantial, definite and distinctive.

In conversing with the elders from Ephesus, who had come over to Miletus at his request, Paul defines for us all the essential ingredients of true conversion.

These needful essential ingredients are faith and repentance.
