Serpent On A Stick = Christ? When you find out how... there's much more to learn

318

This sermon was preached back in December or 2008. Today, as I post this lecture on March 30, 2020, we cannot hold services because of the due care we all should be exhibiting during the Corona virus. Remember to still support your local ministries.

In the meantime, here are a few things our pastor gets into a discussion about in this week's saga of Genesis 1-19.

How is it that the Serpent/Rod, and the Serpent on a Rod is like Christ? One of Christ's names is... Rod and Staff.

In John 3:14 Jesus told Nicodemus, The teacher of Israel, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,” Notice “and as” and “even so”.

Poison = Leprosy = Sin = Death

Why must Christ be lifted up on a cross? Like in Numbers 21, is it because He must be seen? No, Faith cometh by hearing. It's John 8:28, and it's also Numbers 21:4-9. Jesus must be lifted up.

Now go to Exodus 4:1-9. The Rod/Snake and the Leprous Hand are the two signs that God gives Moses.

Then turn to Deuteronomy 21:23, and Paul tells us what that means, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree” in Galatians 3:13-14.

The stone tablets are protected from us by being in the Ark and covered with blood.

Christ is the Snake and He eats the cursed snakes. The curse is now safely inside Christ. He drinks the cup. He is protecting us.

Enjoy!

Please, if you are able, consider supporting Cliffside after giving locally. We are looking for a few to stand in the gap for a short time so we can launch a new Internet platform to come out of this stronger instead of weaker.
