Day 1: Read Luke 9:49-50, Romans 12:6-8 What was good about what the man in question was doing? Should the disciples have approved of what he was doing? Why or why not? Should people be in the practice of casting out demons today? Why or why not? What was particularly ironic about the disciples effort to stop the man?
Day 2: Read Numbers 11:24-29, Philippians 1:15-18 What particular word was used in verse 49 that we should note? What did it reveal about the disciples attitude? Consider your own life. What was the most recent thing you said or did that reveals pride in your own life? When sin is revealed to us, what is the promise of the gospel, and what should our response to this promise be?
Day 3: Read 1 Corinthians 12:4-6, Luke 7:33-34 What does it reveal about us when don't celebrate what God is doing through the gospel? Consider your own life. Prayerfully ask for help remembering the last time you were wrong about something. Confess and admit that. What is promised to us when we humbly confess our sins? What does it mean to "preach the Gospel"? What facets are required for belief, and what is the required response to the gospel?
