Love: Treasure We Take With Us
Series The Gospel Covenant
200
The God whom we worship created us with love as His motivation. We now this because he tells us this in plain language in the Bible. The greatest treasure a believer in the living God can acquire is a heart that loves. The essence of the Covenant the Lord has made with us is love. When we love our neighbor as ourself through concrete action, this is what the Bible calls charity. This is a special type of love known as agape love in the Greek language. The King James Bible correctly differentiates betweeen two types of agape love. When the subject is love between God and Man, the English word love is utilized. When the subject is love between a Man and his neighbor (or enemy), the English word Charity is used.
