A More Excellent Ministry

The Jews were given spiritual leaders through the Tribe of Levi; Aaron and his sons would be the first priests according to the Law. And, for centuries, the Jews would look to these priests to minister to them, and to God on their behalf. Nothing could be more important to a child of God than the ministry of the priesthood; without which they would have no entrée to God, or hope of relationship with God. With the coming of Jesus Christ, His perfect priesthood, once-for-all sacrifice, and ongoing ministry on behalf of His own, the earthly priesthood ministry was set aside. The shadow had been replaced by the Light. The type had been replaced by the reality. Christ Jesus has a much more excellent ministry.
