Text: Psalm 50:1-23
Summary: Revealing God as the righteous Judge, Psalm 50 presents a solemn gathering of His professing people, a holy perspective on their showy performances, a divine rebuke of their stubborn practices, and a compassionate offer of God’s saving pardon.
I. A Solemn Gathering of God’s Professing People (vv. 1-7).
A. The Authority of the Judge.
B. The Magnitude of the Assembly.
II. A Holy Perspective on Their Showy Performances (8-17) : What does God accuse these people of? First of all,
A. They Were Thoughtless in Performing His Ceremonies.
B. They Were Unqualified in Proclaiming His Statutes.
III. A Divine Rebuke of Their Stubborn Practices (18-21):
A. Their View of Sin was Insufficient.
B. Their View of God was Insufficient.
Conclusion, v. 22-23: A solemn call to repentance and an offer of salvation.
