Jesus' Bodily Resurrection from the Dead

In the Death and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus, the Old Testament way of worship was radically transformed and fulfilled. In John 2:19, Jesus said, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." While our Lord spoke these words about his own human body, there is, nevertheless, an inextricable connection between what happened to the physical body of the Lord Jesus and the completion of God's purpose for the Temple in Jerusalem. That is why "the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom" at the same moment that the Lord Jesus "yielded up the ghost." (Matthew 27:50, 51.)
