The Battle Engaged

The last four chapters of the Gospel of John tell us of our Lord's arrest, trial, crucifixion,
and resurrection. This morning, we see that by going to Gethsemane Jesus is NOT
trying to hide; quite on the contrary, He is going there to be found! This tells us that our
Savior willingly enters this final battle with evil. Three elements about this battle should
both confront and comfort us.

1. Our Lord has the ultimate power to win this final battle.

2. Our Lord makes clear the spiritual nature of this final battle.

3. Our Lord endures great suffering during this final battle.
