Anger Management

12

Gasoline is a volatile, dangerous liquid which must be handled properly. Under control, such as in an internal combustion engine, gasoline--even an explosion of it-- can be harnessed and quite beneficial and powerful. But in an uncontrolled state, it can be quite destructive. We are not meant to run on gasoline, but many of us run on anger. Like gasoline, in an uncontrolled state anger can be quite destructive. But if anger is managed properly and is channeled in the right direction, anger can be a powerful impetus in our lives that propels us to address problems in our world. But the key is proper management. So how do we manage anger. There are five ways people handle anger. Some suppress it. Other vent it. Still others slowly leak it out through passive aggressive behavior. All of these ways can be personally destructive and harm those around them. Two positive ways of managing anger are to redirect it towards a solution. And when the situation is out of one's control, to give it over to God for Him to work. In these two ways, we can be angry, and yet not sin.
