Burning Hearts on the Emmaus Road

A narrative sermon on Jesus appearance to the disciples on the Emmaus road. He keeps their eyes from recognizing him and establishes their faith in his physical resurrection based on the Scriptures- Prophets, law and writings of the Hebrew Bible and then manifest himself at table with them as he broke the bread. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Jesus resurrection truth comes to us also by the Word of God (prophets and Apostles writings) and his presence with believers as they break bread. This appearance also forms a pattern for Christian worship. (Acts 2:42)
