John 9:1-41

64

1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. Still this dialogue is going on between Jesus and the Pharisees and the common people. They tried to kill Jesus in the 8th chapter for heresy when He claimed who He really is. They took up stones to kill Him, but He hid Himself and escaped. The Greek translation leads us to believe it was a miracle He escaped this crowd, but it was not His time to die yet.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? As Jesus passes by, here is a man who was born blind. In those times, if a person was born with a handicap, they believed it was because the parents sinned or you were going to sin in the future. So the disciples asked Him, what sin was committed here to make this man blind from birth?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. A lot of people accuse God of being unfair because of this statement. But this man was born blind for a specific reason: to show the power of God. We don't know why God picks one person over another for these demonstrations; it's not for us to know. We just have to accept these things.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. There's coming a time when it's going to dark, says Jesus. He is referring to when He'll be crucified.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay, Jesus healed in many .......
