Exalted Ideas

Isaiah 55 presents God's sovereign purpose to use His covenant with David as the basis of His saving work to restore all things. As the Lord sets forth this purpose, he calls the rebellious nation to seek Him and forsake their wicked ways. If they will return to Him, He promises that He will treat them with compassion and pardon. Knowing that the nation will not return, the Lord proceeds to decree that His purposes will be fulfilled because His Word will not return to Him empty. The Lord will make a name for Himself.
