Hebrews 9:11-14

Access to God and Clean Consciences—
Only Through the Blood of Christ!

Main Idea:
The blood of Christ gives us access to God and clean consciences!

• God sent Christ to give us access to God (11-12)
 Christ appeared as our High Priest (11-12)
 Came through the greater and more perfect tent (11b)
 He entered once for all into the holy places (12a)
 He entered by means of His own blood (12b)
 He secured our eternal redemption (12c)

• Christ purifies our conscience to serve the living God (13-14)

 The Old Covenant (13)
 Blood of goats and bulls (Day of Atonement)
 Sprinkling of defiled people with red heifer ashes (occasional sacrifices)

 The New Covenant (14)
 The blood of Christ
 Through the eternal Spirit
 Offered Himself to God
 Without blemish
 To purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God

Applications

We can be free of guilt though the blood of Christ!
We can have access to God through the blood of Christ!
Will we trust in Christ’s completed, once-for-all sacrifice?
