The LBCF of 1689 - Ch 8, Para 1, Part 2

92

The choice and ordination of the Son to be the one Mediator between God and man is an eternal, Trinitarian choice. The roles assumed by Father, Son, and Spirit exactly suit the divine Nature. The specific needs of the fallen sons of Adam are exactly correspondent to these redemptive roles. The Son's position in the Trinity, and our position as fallen image bearers make the office of Mediator exactly and uniquely suited to the Son of God.

The balance of the message examines the Mediator's function as “Savior and Head of the Church.” We see from Ephesians 5 that the Mediator's primary motive as Savior is His love for the church.
