Return, O Backsliding Children

I want to address this afternoon the subject of backsliding and I pray that all of us will have our eyes opened to the importance of this subject. It relates to knowing God and glorifying Him and it relates to pretending to know God and pretending to glorify Him. The people of our text are called “backsliding children”. They are not yet apostate as a whole group but probably many were. But God cannot give them up. He will still strive with them in bonds of His love. Backsliding is a movement away from God by a course of disobedience and a neglect of His Word, His will, and His Person; it is a turning away from God. .” You say to me, “How can I return to the Lord after I have backslidden?” “How can our nation return to the Lord after we have backslidden?” Let us pray that God will help us as we retrace the 4 steps which we find here, which will lead us back into the path of righteousness.
