God's Will: Provision, 3

425

God normally increases our finances by ordinary means, the kinds of things mentioned in the book of Proverbs.

But God can judge our finances as well as bless them. Scripture refers to this as a curse. Curses are not weird; they are simply the judgment of God.

Psalm 73 warns that the greatest curse is not to be dealt with by God in a timely way but suddenly to be struck down without warning.

God ordains financial curses for specific sinful things recorded in the Bible.

Exploitation of the poor brings a financial curse. (Proverbs 22:16; 22:22, 23; 21:13; 17:5)

Sexual sin calls down a curse on our fiances. (Proverbs 6:26, 31, 32; 5:8 -10; 29:3)

God often humbles our pride by hitting us in the purse. (Proverbs 15:25; 16:18)

Easy money is cursed. (Proverbs 13:11)

Putting my own luxury ahead of God brings down God's curse on my wallet. (Haggai 1:2-11; 2:15 -19; Malachi 3:7-18)
